Finding Minecraft's Chicken Variants

Warm Chickens: These yellow and orange feathered birds reside in warmer biomes. Look for them in: Badlands, Bamboo Jungle, Eroded Badlands, Jungle, Savanna, Savanna Plateau, Sparse Jungle, Windswept Savanna, and Wooded Badlands.

Cold Chickens: Sporting blue feathers, these chickens are found exclusively in cold biomes: Old Growth Pine Taiga, Old Growth Spruce Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Taiga, Windswept Forest, Windswept Gravelly Hills, and Windswept Hills.

Temperate Chickens: These are your classic chickens, now officially named "Temperate Chickens," and inhabit all biomes not classified as warm or cold.

Taming Chickens

Unlike other tamable mobs, chickens aren't traditionally tamed. Instead, feed them seeds to encourage them to follow you. Guide them to a fenced area to collect them. Be mindful of long journeys, especially in Survival mode, and consider establishing checkpoints along the way.

Breeding Chickens

To breed chickens, feed two of the same variant seeds to get an egg that hatches the same type. For a surprise, feed seeds to two different variants – the resulting egg will hatch a random chicken type.
