The cards we're unveiling today are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, nestled within the expansive main set. These are reprints of existing Magic cards, beautifully reimagined with concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new mechanics or unique cards like those found in the recently revealed Commander decks, their art spans the entire history of the Final Fantasy series, from the very first game.

Unlike the main set cards, the Through the Ages cards do not become legal in Magic's Standard format, but they retain their legality if the original card was already legal. These cards serve as alternate art versions and can be found in both the premium Collector Boosters and one in every three regular Play Boosters used for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.
If you plan to engage extensively with this set, either at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you'll likely encounter these cards often. Five of the six cards revealed are Rares, making them less common, but Thrum of the Vestige, an Uncommon and a reskin of the iconic Lightning Bolt, may have a significant impact on the set's gameplay.
The Warrior of Light reprint of Jodah, the Unifier, is set to be a fan favorite. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and the art here is Yoshitaka Amano's from the original Final Fantasy's Japanese boxart. Likewise, Amano's iconic illustration for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, a formidable partner commander that has seen only one previous reprint before this.
These cards will be available in physical form as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions launching on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan new to Magic, there's plenty to be excited about, as Tetsuya Nomura, director of the FF7 Remake series, hinted that Sephiroth's card features a unique design for a mysterious reason.
