"Accuser of Copyright Infringement Faces Review Bombing"

by Zoe May 14,2025

In the world of indie gaming, a storm has brewed around Schedule I, a co-op crime simulation game that recently hit the scene. The game, which lets players climb the ranks from a small-time dope pusher to a kingpin, has found itself at the center of a copyright infringement accusation by Movie Games S.A., the creators of the The Drug Dealer Simulator series. According to a report from the Polish Press Agency on April 3, Movie Games S.A. claims that Schedule I has potentially violated their intellectual property rights by using similar plots, mechanics, and user interfaces as found in their games.

Despite the lack of an official outcome from the investigation, the gaming community has taken sides, and it seems that Schedule I has garnered more support. In a twist of events, The Drug Dealer Simulator and its sequel, Drug Dealer Simulator 2, have been hit with a wave of negative reviews on Steam. Both games are now marked as "Overwhelmingly Negative" and "Mostly Negative" respectively. Fans have voiced their discontent, accusing Movie Games S.A. of bullying and pointing out the company's apparent hypocrisy, as similar games in the past went unchallenged until Schedule I's release. This backlash has come even as the series is widely regarded as one of the top criminal management games by various outlets and fans.
