Activision Settles Lawsuit, Lifts 'Unjust' Call of Duty Ban

by Caleb Feb 19,2025

A dedicated gamer, b00lin, waged a 763-day legal battle against Activision to overturn an unjust Steam ban. Their remarkable journey, chronicled in a detailed blog post, highlights the lengths some will go to clear their name.

The ban stemmed from b00lin's participation in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta in December 2023, where they played for over 36 hours. Initially dismissed as a technical glitch, Activision's refusal to overturn the ban spurred b00lin into action. While most would have conceded defeat, b00lin chose to fight back.

Activision, citing security protocols, refused to provide evidence of any alleged cheating, even when b00lin requested seemingly innocuous details like the name of the flagged software.

The subsequent court case exposed Activision's lack of concrete proof against b00lin. The company's stringent anti-cheat secrecy was laid bare. Ultimately, the court sided with b00lin, ordering Activision to lift the ban and cover legal expenses. This victory was finally achieved in early 2025.
