The Alienware 16 Area-51, while less bulky than its 18-inch counterpart, remains a premium gaming laptop prioritizing power and cooling. At 7.5 pounds and 0.85 inches thick, it uses a 360W power adapter and is best kept plugged in. It features a 16-inch display, a standard keyboard without a numpad, and no ethernet port, but matches the Alienware 18’s internal specs, including an Intel Core Ultra 9 HX processor and up to an RTX 5090 GPU, supported by advanced cooling.

Four models are discounted for Memorial Day: a $2,850 model with RTX 5070 Ti graphics, $2,999.99 and $3,150 models with RTX 5080 graphics, and a $3,650 model with RTX 5090 graphics.

Notebookcheck notes the RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU matches RTX 4080 performance, surpassing the RTX 4070, while the RTX 5070 aligns with the RTX 4070. Both handle 1920x1200 resolution gaming effortlessly.

Tom’s Hardware reports the RTX 5080 mobile GPU outperforms the RTX 4080 by 15-20% and slightly edges out the RTX 4090, offering better value than the pricier RTX 5090, which is only 15% faster. With a QHD+ (2560x1600) display, the RTX 5080 ensures high frame rates, especially with DLSS 4 support.

Launched in 2025, the Alienware Area-51 boasts a magnesium alloy chassis with advanced cooling, including more fans, larger vents, increased copper, and new thermal materials, handling up to 240W TDP quietly, per Dell. Its design features smooth contours, rounded edges, and near-invisible hinges, with customizable RGB LED lighting.
