"American Dad Set to Return on Fox in 2026 Midseason"

by George May 25,2025

Get ready for a blast from the past because Seth MacFarlane's beloved animated series, American Dad, is making its triumphant return to Fox in 2026. Fans can look forward to new episodes, marking a second debut on the network. This exciting news comes alongside the announcement that new episodes of MacFarlane’s other hit show, Family Guy, will also be gracing Fox’s midseason lineup.

Both shows originally aired on Fox from 2005 to 2014 before moving to TBS, where they remained until March of this year. Their return to Fox is part of the network’s strategy to maintain a "winning position" in primetime television programming. Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season, stating, “Building on our winning position in both key demos and co-viewing this season, Fox delivers a 2025-26 schedule that’s filled with irreverence, fun and much-needed laughter. Next year more than ever, we’re bringing that promise to life with a terrific slate to delight our audiences across linear, Hulu and beyond.”

The network has unveiled plans for a new streaming service called Fox One, which will integrate news, sports, and entertainment into a single platform. According to a press release from Fox, Fox One will offer both live streaming and on-demand access to the full catalog of Fox brands, with the option to bundle with Fox Nation.

While an exact premiere date for American Dad's return to Fox has yet to be announced, anticipation is high among fans eager to see what new adventures await the Smith family. And with Fox One on the horizon, it’s likely that the show will be available on this new platform, providing even more ways for viewers to enjoy their favorite animated series. We'll know more details sometime next year, but one thing is for sure—we’ll all be tuning in and singing along to that catchy theme song.
