Assassin's Creed Shadows: Full Completion in 80 Hours

by Max Apr 12,2025

Creative director Jonathan Dumont has shed light on the anticipated playtime for Assassin's Creed Shadows, revealing that completing the core narrative will take players approximately 30 to 40 hours. For those eager to delve into all the optional content, an additional 30 to 40 hours can be expected, culminating in a total playtime of around 80 hours. This information was shared during an interview with journalist Genki, offering fans a clear expectation of the time commitment required for this latest installment in the Assassin's Creed series.

Dumont had previously likened Shadows to earlier titles like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. However, these games differ significantly in length, which made such comparisons less helpful. Recognizing the challenge in measuring open-world experiences, Dumont clarified that Shadows aligns more closely with the scope of Origins. According to How Long To Beat, Origins requires about 30 hours to finish the main campaign and up to 80 hours for a complete playthrough, aligning closely with the projected time for Shadows.

For fans worried about excessively long gameplay, Shadows seems to strike a better balance. In comparison, Valhalla has faced criticism for its extensive 60-hour main story and an overwhelming 150-hour potential when including all content. If Dumont's estimates hold true, Shadows promises a more manageable yet enriching experience.

Mark your calendars—Assassin's Creed Shadows is set to release on March 20th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
