While the leak itself is noteworthy, its origin adds an unexpected twist. IGN has reached out to Ubisoft for comment. Although the original source has removed the gallery, archived versions are circulating on various file-sharing platforms.

The leak comes shortly before Assassin's Creed Shadows' official launch on March 20, 2025, following a delay from its initial 2024 release date. At a recent preview event, game director Charles Benoit explained that the postponement primarily focused on polishing the game. While some gameplay progression and balancing adjustments were made, the most significant improvements targeted the parkour system, particularly its interaction with the unique challenges of Feudal Japan's architecture.

Benoit stated that the complexity of Japanese rooftops presented a unique challenge, requiring specialized code and animations to maintain fluid parkour movement. He highlighted this as a key area of improvement based on player feedback.
