"Atelier Resleriana Shuts Down in Late March"

by Nathan May 20,2025

After a year since its global launch, Koei Tecmo has announced the end-of-service for Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. The decision to shut down the game comes with the cessation of in-game purchases on January 27th, followed by the complete termination of all services on March 28th. In the time leading up to the closure, the developers have planned several events to allow players to enjoy the remaining days of the game.

The developers have openly acknowledged that they could not maintain the standards they initially set for Atelier Resleriana. Despite their ongoing efforts to enhance the game through updates and events, they concluded that continuing operations was no longer feasible. Players can still use Lodestar Gems for in-game activities until the shutdown, although purchasing them is no longer possible.

For many fans of Atelier Resleriana, this announcement might not be entirely unexpected. The gacha gaming market is highly competitive, with numerous titles fighting for player attention. Despite some innovative concepts, Atelier Resleriana faced challenges that hindered its success. The gacha and banner rates were often criticized, leading to player frustration with the game's progression system. The alchemy mechanics, a hallmark of the Atelier series, did not meet expectations and failed to inspire the creativity fans hoped for. While the gameplay was functional, it lacked the engagement needed to compete with other prominent titles in the genre.

From the outset, Atelier Resleriana faced significant challenges, and in retrospect, the signs of its impending closure were perhaps evident. Social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit are currently filled with player requests for an offline version of the game, though the likelihood of this happening remains low. If you've enjoyed this turn-based RPG, make sure to savor the final months before the journey concludes.
