by Allison Mar 21,2025

Get ready, Avatar fans! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a brand-new animated series: Avatar: Seven Havens. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved franchise, creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are bringing us a thrilling 26-episode adventure.

This new 2D animated series follows a young Earthbender, the next Avatar after Korra, in a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. The press release paints a picture of a perilous journey: This new Avatar is not seen as a savior, but as a harbinger of destruction, hunted by both human and spirit enemies. Forced to uncover their mysterious origins alongside their long-lost twin, they must race against time to save the Seven Havens before civilization crumbles.

DiMartino and Konietzko shared their excitement, stating, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”

Avatar: Seven Havens will be released in two 13-episode seasons (Book 1 and Book 2). DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating the series with executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. Casting details are yet to be announced.

This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also hard at work on a feature-length animated film focusing on adult Aang. This film is slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, promising a new chapter in Aang's story.

The 20th-anniversary celebration extends beyond Seven Havens, with Avatar Studios unveiling a range of exciting new projects, including books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a Roblox game. It's a truly momentous occasion for fans of this iconic series.
