How To Get Paradisan Ladder in Avowed

There are five primary methods to obtain Paradisan Ladder in Avowed: purchasing from Merilyn the merchant in Paradise, finding plants while exploring, receiving it as a reward from side quests, breaking down items infused with it, and downgrading Hylea’s Talon.

Merylin the Merchant

Purchasing from Merilyn is the fastest and most reliable way to acquire Paradisan Ladder in Avowed. She is located in South Paradise, as indicated on the map above. When you first approach her, she'll mention her rivalry with her blacksmith sister nearby. Merilyn offers five units of Paradisan Ladder for 150 coins each. Additionally, she sells two unique items—the Many-Hued Doublet light armor and the Common Grimoire of Elements—that can be broken down to yield two units of Paradisan Ladder each.

Note that Merilyn's inventory does not restock once sold out, even after resting at a party camp. However, visiting her remains the best option for a quick upgrade.

Paradisan Ladder can also be found while exploring Avowed’s wild areas and occasionally in city spots like Paradis. Keep an eye on your mini-map for the plant logo, as marked with the red circle above. Although Paradisan Ladder can be confused with other plant types, collecting any you find during your quests is a great way to build your stockpile at no cost.

Side Quests

Avowed encourages players to engage in side quests to obtain Paradisan Ladder as rewards, adding to the game's difficulty curve. For instance, the early side quest "Escape Plan," encountered during the campaign, rewards you with crafting materials, including two units of Paradisan Ladder. This additional effort not only provides you with the essential herb but also grants XP and other bonuses.

Breaking Down Items

In Avowed, you can break down items to retrieve core crafting materials like Softwood Branches, Pelts, and Iron Chunks. You can also reclaim Paradisan Ladder by dismantling higher-quality items that have been upgraded with it. For example, breaking down a Common Sword upgraded with Paradisan Ladder at your party camp workbench will yield some of the herb for reuse. Additionally, check merchants' inventories for unique items that mention Paradisan Ladder in their "Break Down" section.
