Bam Margera’s Inclusion in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Clarified as Request, Not Demand

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 welcomed Bam Margera back at Tony Hawk’s request, not as a mandate, the skating legend confirmed. Discover more about Margera’s last-minute addition and what lies ahead for the iconic series.
Skater Lineup and Future Plans for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4
Bam Margera’s Return Was a Request, Not a Demand

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 (THPS3+4) added Bam Margera at the eleventh hour following a personal request from Tony Hawk, though he emphasized he didn’t pressure Activision. In a July 1 interview with Polygon, Hawk shared that he leveraged a favor to secure Margera’s spot in the game.
When the initial skater roster was unveiled in March, fans were disappointed to see Margera absent. A mainstay since the original THPS 3 and 4, as well as the Underground series, Margera’s legacy in the franchise is undeniable.

While no official reason was given for Margera’s initial exclusion, it may stem from public knowledge of his personal challenges. Still, Tony Hawk, his longtime friend and the series’ namesake, was determined to see him included.
Rumors swirled that Hawk strong-armed Activision, but he refuted this. “I don’t call the shots on the game’s direction, but I recently spoke with [Bam], and he’s in a great place, skating a lot,” Hawk explained. He noted the addition was a last-minute decision and expressed gratitude for Activision’s approval.
Jack Black Reprises Officer Dick, Joined by U.K. Twin Constable Richard
Fans will also recognize Officer Dick, the series’ secret skater. On June 26, THPS’s official YouTube channel announced Jack Black’s return as Officer Dick in THPS3+4, alongside a new character, his U.K. twin, Constable Richard.
In a June 25 Variety interview, Game Director Kurt Tillmanns shared that the team cherished Jack Black’s role in THPS1+2 and wanted to uphold the tradition of celebrity cameos. Iron Galaxy’s developers tweaked THPS3+4 to bring back Officer Dick, enriching his character arc.
“In the last game, he was a high school security guard yelling at skaters. Now, his power trip has evolved into campus security sheriff at a college. We wanted to put our own spin on his return, and Jack was all in,” Tillmanns said.
Could an Underground Remake Be Next?

With the return of fan-favorite skaters and characters like Doomguy, Activision might consider revisiting the beloved Underground series. Hawk acknowledged the fan demand and expressed willingness to support its revival if it resonates with players.
However, Hawk emphasized delivering more than nostalgia. “It’s not just about celebrating the original characters and roots. Updating it with new skaters, tricks, and levels is what excites me most,” he said.

With Margera’s inclusion and growing calls for an Underground remake, the narrative-driven skating series could make a comeback fueled by nostalgia. For now, fans can look forward to a nostalgic thrill when THPS3+4 launches soon.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 arrives on July 11 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Stay updated with the latest game details in our article below!
