Conquering Baramos's Lair in Dragon Quest 3 Remake: A Comprehensive Guide

After securing the Six Orbs and hatching Ramia, the Everbird, you're poised to tackle Baramos's Lair, the climactic dungeon in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. This challenging dungeon serves as a significant test of your party's strength before venturing into the underworld. This guide details navigating and conquering Baramos's Lair in the HD-2D Remake.

Baramos's Lair houses the Archfiend Baramos, the primary antagonist of the game's first half. Access is granted only after obtaining Ramia. Aim for a party level of at least 20 before attempting this challenge. The lair contains several valuable items, detailed in the sections below.

Reaching Baramos's Lair

Following the Maw of the Necrogond and acquiring the Silver Orb, Ramia becomes available. Reach Baramos's Lair by flying from either the Shrine of the Everbird or the Necrogond Shrine.

North of the Necrogond Shrine lies an island nestled amongst mountains – this is Baramos's Lair. Ramia will transport you directly to the dungeon entrance. Simply proceed north and enter.

Navigating Baramos's Lair

Baramos's Lair deviates from typical dungeon structures. Instead of a linear progression, you'll traverse indoor and outdoor areas to reach Baramos.

The initial area is the "Surroundings," an outdoor hub connecting all structures. The following outlines the main path to the boss fight, with treasure locations detailed separately for each section.

Main Path to Baramos:

  1. Upon entering from the overworld, bypass the main entrance. Instead, circumnavigate the castle's eastern side towards the northeastern pool.
  2. Ascend the stairs to the pool, then turn left (west) to another stair set. Proceed up and enter the door on your right.
  3. Inside the Eastern Tower, reach the top and exit.
  4. On the castle roof, traverse southwest, descend the stairs, continue west, and pass through the gaps in the northwestern double wall. Use the northwestern stair set.
  5. The stairs lead to the Central Tower. Use "Safe Passage" to cross electrified floor panels and descend to B1 Passageway A (southwest stairs).
  6. In B1 Passageway A, turn east and proceed to the easternmost stairs.
  7. In the South-East Tower, head northeast, ascend the stairs to the roof, then head west and descend again. Cross the grass northwest and enter the only available door.
  8. This leads to a small area in the Central Tower's northeast corner. Exit.
  9. You'll be in B1 Passageway B. Proceed north and ascend the stairs.
  10. Enter the Throne Room. Avoid floor panels and exit south.
  11. You're back in the Surroundings. The Throne Room is northwest; head east to the northeastern structure (on an island) – Baramos's Den, where the boss awaits.
