Black Myth: Wukong, the highly anticipated action RPG based on the timeless Chinese epic Journey to the West, will launch on Xbox Series X/S on August 20, 2025—a full year after its debut on PS5 and PC.

Black Myth: Wukong became a global phenomenon, surpassing 25 million copies sold by January 2025. Yet its initial omission from Xbox platforms stood out, as the game was never officially marketed as an exclusive.

Rumors suggested the delay stemmed from a Sony exclusivity agreement rather than technical hurdles. However, Game Science CEO Feng Ji reportedly cited challenges with the Xbox Series S hardware as the primary obstacle.

"The Xbox version was the missing piece," he stated via machine translation. "Our team found the Series S's 10GB shared memory particularly demanding without extensive optimization experience."
