"Black Ops 6 Zombies Season 2: New Tomb Map and Enhanced QoL Updates"

by Sophia Apr 18,2025

Treyarch is marking 115 Day with a thrilling array of announcements for *Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies*, highlighted by the reveal of a new map called The Tomb. This January 15 celebration is a significant event for *Call of Duty* enthusiasts, featuring a comprehensive blog breakdown of all the zombie-themed surprises awaiting players in the coming months. The spotlight of the day's announcements is The Tomb, a new sandy Zombies map set to debut with the launch of Season 2 on January 28. This means that following the introduction of Citadelle des Morts in Season 1, another exciting addition to the Zombies universe is just around the corner, less than two weeks away.

According to Treyarch, the narrative of The Tomb follows the aftermath of the harrowing events at Citadelle des Morts, where characters Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya heed Gabriel Krafft's final words to secure the Sentinel Artifact at a nearby excavation site. This new map is set amidst ancient burial grounds with origins tracing back to 2500 B.C.E., which remained untouched until the early 1900s. The depths of what lies beneath these catacombs are shrouded in mystery, promising an intriguing storyline.

Treyarch describes The Tomb as an enigmatic locale with connections to a British archeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, though details on how it ties into the broader Zombies narrative remain scarce. In terms of gameplay, The Tomb is designed to offer a similar experience to Liberty Falls, the vibrant, small-town map that debuted with *Black Ops 6* in October. This means players can expect "tighter play spaces with a focus on replayability," as they uncover the numerous Easter eggs hidden throughout the map.

Adding to the excitement, Treyarch teases a reimagined Wonder Weapon "inspired by our past" and the return of an iconic SMG, though specifics are yet to be revealed. Season 2 also promises a host of quality-of-life improvements and new features that the community has eagerly requested since the game's launch. Players will now be able to track up to 10 Calling Card challenges and 10 Camo challenges in both Zombies and Multiplayer modes. Additionally, Zombies mode will introduce a co-op pause option, allowing the party leader to pause matches mid-run. HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be separated, and players will have the ability to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadout if they are disconnected.

To celebrate 115 Day, *Black Ops 6* players can take advantage of double GobbleGum earn rates, as well as double player, weapon, and battle pass XP, available through 10am PT on January 21. Treyarch also shared impressive stats about the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing that players have collectively spent over 480 million hours in *Black Ops 6 Zombies*. The team's goal with Directed Mode was to expand the Zombies community by guiding new players through Main Quests, and the results have been promising. Since its launch, the average Main Quest completion rate has more than doubled, rising from 3.38% on November 14 to 8.23% today.
