"Board Up Windows for Survival in Project Zomboid"

In Project Zomboid, securing your shelter from the undead horde is crucial. While finding a safehouse is relatively easy, fortifying it is a different challenge. This guide details how to create basic, yet effective, window barricades.

How to Barricade Windows in Project Zomboid

To board your windows, you'll need a wooden plank, a hammer, and four nails. Once gathered, right-click the target window. Your character will automatically begin securing the plank. Each window can support up to four planks for increased protection.

Hammers and nails are typically found in toolboxes, garages, sheds, and closets. Planks are common at construction sites, or can be salvaged by breaking down wooden furniture in a pinch. Administrators can use the "/additem" command to spawn these items.

Barricaded windows significantly hinder zombie access. More planks mean increased resistance. To remove planks, right-click them and select "Remove," requiring a claw hammer or crowbar.

Note that large furniture items (bookshelves, refrigerators, etc.) cannot be used as effective barricades; players and zombies will simply pass through them. However, knowing how to move furniture remains useful for interior design.

More robust barricades can be constructed using metal bars or sheets, but this requires sufficient Metalworking skill.
