Launch Date Moved to September 12

In a surprising turn of events following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford took to Twitter (X) on April 29 to reveal that Borderlands 4’s launch date has been moved up to September 12. Although he initially deleted the video and reposted, the excitement was palpable. Pitchford explained that the development process has been exceptionally smooth, describing it as "the best scenario," which has enabled them to advance the release date.

Originally, during PlayStation's February State of Play, Borderlands 4 was slated for a September 23 release. However, the latest update from Borderlands 4’s official Twitter (X) account confirms the new, earlier launch date of September 12.

The official statement reads, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
