Bullseye in Marvel Snap: To Snap or Not?
Bullseye, the iconic comic book villain, might seem a bit out of date, but he remains a timeless character in the world of superheroes and villains. His presence in comics is a testament to the enduring appeal of these evil, gimmicky characters—often seen in tight costumes with themes ranging from animals to objects, acting bizarrely and looking absurd. Bullseye, however, stands out as a classic in the comic universe.

However, what does he do?
Bullseye is a sadistic, murderous psychopath with a ruthless sense of purpose. His real name remains a mystery, speculated to be Benjamin Poindexter or Lester, among other aliases. Unlike many superheroes with superhuman genes, Bullseye's abilities stem from his natural talent, similar to Hawkeye. This "peak human" condition, as described in Marvel Comics, allows him to turn everyday objects like throwing knives, pens, paperclips, or his signature razor playing cards into lethal weapons.

Bullseye's simplicity as a hired mercenary with a knack for killing in a ridiculous costume is part of his charm. Throughout the Marvel Universe, he's left a trail of destruction, most notably killing Elektra and impersonating Hawkeye in the Dark Avengers. His intelligence allows him to turn murder into a lucrative business, and his skill makes him exceptionally good at it.
In the game SNAP, Bullseye's prowess is showcased through his ability to throw objects with precision. He targets your opponent's cards with -2 Power using your weakest cards (no more than 1-Cost!). His effect, hitting different targets with each card like a hat trick, embodies his perfect aim and sadistic nature. When activated, he ensures your hand is discarded at the optimal moment.

Bullseye synergizes well with Discard decks, particularly with cards like Scorn or Swarm, which ensure your hand has suitable discards for his activation. While Daken provides only one target, other opportunities exist to target the Shard. Bullseye becomes a controlled discard outlet, supporting cards like Morbius or Miek. His ability to discard multiple cards can amplify the impact of a MODOK/Swarm play on turn 5, supercharging your favorite living vampire.

However, Bullseye has his weaknesses. Luke Cage can nullify his threat entirely, while Red Guardian can disrupt your carefully planned Discard strategy. When employing Bullseye, strategic planning is crucial to maximize his effectiveness.
Bullseye Decks on Day One

The classic Discard deck is Bullseye's most obvious synergy. His ability complements Scorn and Swarm, enhancing an already powerful Discard engine. Focusing on Swarm, this deck includes Collector, Victoria Hand, and Moonstone to leverage their synergy and capitalize on Bullseye's massive Discard turns. Gambit is also included, not just for his thematic connection with playing cards but for his ability to turn games around.

Daken, known for being a challenging card in Discard payoffs, becomes more manageable with Bullseye's control and redundancy. Bullseye allows you to activate him at the end of your last turn, buffing multiple copies of Daken and discarding multiple copies of the Shard. This controlled discard at the end of your turn can add consistency to the combo, making it easier to duplicate Daken on the board.
Verdict
Bullseye might prove more challenging to integrate into decks than initially thought. SNAP players often struggle with the intricacies of playing around the Activate mechanic, and Bullseye's effect is quite specific. However, his flashy effect and character make him a valuable addition to Discard decks, particularly those centered around Swarm and Scorn. With careful deck-building and strategic play, Bullseye can be a game-changer in the right hands.
