Breakable Parts: Head and Arms

Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (1x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (2x)

Tentacle Tactics

Nu Udra presents a challenging fight due to its extensive reach, courtesy of its massive tentacles. While these make dodging difficult, they also offer melee fighters the closest points of attack. Severing the arms yields extra materials, but proceed with caution—these limbs pack a powerful punch.

Targeting the Maw

Ranged weapon users have more options, but the mouth remains the optimal target, boasting a 4-star weakness. While its near-black skin makes it hard to spot, focusing fire here is key. The head is another viable option (3-star weakness to ammo), effective for blunt and cut damage.

Harnessing Watermoss

Nu Udra possesses a fire affinity, unleashing fiery attacks alongside its limb strikes. It even ignites itself at times, inflicting the dangerous Fireblight debuff. Employing Watermoss is crucial for mitigating this threat and allowing safer attacks.

Fire Resistance is Key

Struggling? Prioritize fire-resistant gear. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is highly recommended. Fire Res Jewels and Stream Jewels (for increased Water Attack) are also valuable additions to your arsenal.

Evading the Grab

Nu Udra's grab attack is particularly menacing. If caught too close, it will ensnare you with its tentacles, followed by a fiery blast. Use a knife to escape during the brief pause, or exploit its weak point with a Slinger.

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment comes only after significantly weakening the monster (look for the skull icon near the boss icon). Luring it with meat or simply running behind the trap while it targets you are effective strategies. Once trapped, swiftly use a Tranquilizer—you have approximately five seconds before it breaks free.

That's your comprehensive guide to defeating and capturing Nu Udra in Monster Hunter Wilds. This challenging hunt is significantly easier with multiplayer; don't hesitate to team up!
