How to Capture Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds
Mastering Monster Capture in Monster Hunter Wilds
While slaying monsters is thrilling, capturing them yields valuable parts. This guide details how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.
The Capture Process
Capturing in Monster Hunter Wilds is straightforward: weaken the monster, trap it, then use tranquilizer items.
Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weakened. Other indicators include a skull icon above the monster on your minimap, and visible signs of weakness like limping or drooling.
Once weakened, deploy a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap. Lure the monster onto the trap. Once trapped, quickly throw Tranq Bombs (one or two usually suffice). Alternatively, craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades depending on your weapon and preferred playstyle.
Successfully capturing a monster ends the quest and returns you to Base Camp.
Obtaining Traps and Tranquilizer Items
While your Palico may occasionally set traps, it's advisable to carry your own. There are two trap types:
- Pitfall Trap: Requires a Trap Tool and a Net (Spiderwebs or Ivy).
- Shock Trap: Requires a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.
Tranquilizer items can be crafted:
- Tranq Bomb: Crafted using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom.
- Tranq Ammo/Tranq Blades: Combine Tranq Bombs with Throwing Knives (for Blades) or Normal Ammo (for Ammo).
