How To Complete Under the Straw Hat Side Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (KCD2)

Some quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* require a trip to Kuttenberg before they become available. However, reaching Kuttenberg unlocks inter-region travel, opening up a world of new adventures. Let's explore how to complete the "Under the Straw Hat" quest.

Before tackling "Under the Straw Hat," you must first begin "In Vino Veritas." This side quest unfolds in Kuttenberg. Upon arrival, seek out Casper Rudolf, who's offering free wine samples on the city's west side. He needs your help gathering information to improve his winemaking.

You can choose to directly approach Havel, impressing him with your wine knowledge, or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta and read it to gain more expertise. If you go straight to Havel, remember that looking the part helps. Ensure you're wearing clean, presentable clothing. When speaking with Havel, select "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" as your responses—this is crucial for obtaining the necessary information. Return to Casper and share your findings.

Accessing the Vineyard

Casper now tasks you with infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to gather information about the incense Havel mentioned. Avoid trespassing by sticking to the main road leading to the vineyard. Speak with the recruiter there; this conversation triggers the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Continue along the road, passing a guard at the estate entrance. You'll find Jerome sitting on a bench further in.

Inform Jerome that you've been sent to report. He'll provide details about working at the vineyard.

Working at the Vineyard

Your vineyard work begins the following day. Rest at an inn and return to the vineyard in the morning. To earn payment, you must move sacks to their designated spots and harvest plants like Thistle growing near the vines. Alternatively, you can directly search for the secret incense.

The incense is located in the wine cellar, found in the main building's downstairs area. Accessing the cellar requires either a lockpick or stealing the keys from Jerome (be warned, this is risky!). Locate the chest within the cellar and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks. This completes the primary objective, though collecting seedlings for Casper as a secondary objective will increase your reward. To find seedlings, quickly collect five from near the main building's entrance (this is trespassing, so act swiftly!).

If you chose to complete your work tasks, collect your pay from Jerome at the end of the day. Otherwise, return to Casper to deliver the wicks and any collected seedlings. This completes both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. You're now free to pursue other side quests, such as "Master Schindel's Toys."
