Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Ad Mistakenly Says 'Out Now'

by Isaac Jan 08,2026

A massive advertisement for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond at London's Oxford Circus tube station claims the game is now available, causing confusion among Nintendo fans during their morning commute.

If you've seen the ad yourself, rest assured — the current London heatwave isn't playing tricks on you. The promotion, witnessed by multiple fans, genuinely states the game is "out now."

Officially, Nintendo has only confirmed a 2025 release window for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, with no specific date announced. Even if the game isn't actually available yet, its appearance in such a prominent advertising location has fans hopeful that its launch is imminent.

"Any idea why the MP4 Beyond ad in the London Underground says 'out now'?" asked Nintendo fan orchestarwrote on Reddit. "I’m genuinely confused. Do they mean the Switch 2 is out? I really wish the game was already available, haha."

Some speculate the advertisement might be outdated — perhaps Nintendo originally intended to release Metroid Prime 4 around this time, and the text was never updated. Alternatively, this could be an early version of the ad, intended to go live alongside the game's official release date announcement.

For other eager Nintendo fans, tired of waiting after so many years, the ad has sparked hope for an unexpected surprise release. However, this seems unlikely, especially with Donkey Kong Bananza positioned as Nintendo's next major Switch 2 title.

Now planned as a cross-generation title for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is scheduled to launch sometime in 2025 following a lengthy and complex development cycle.

First announced in 2017, the sequel to Retro Studios' acclaimed GameCube and Wii trilogy was rebooted in 2019. Development restarted under Retro Studios after an earlier version by Bandai Namco fell short of Nintendo's expectations. Years later, with the Switch 2 approaching, Nintendo finally gave the game a proper reveal in June 2024.

On Switch 2, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will run at 120 frames per second and include optional control schemes that utilize the Joy-Con's mouse-like functionality. The game is widely expected to launch sometime between Donkey Kong Bananza's July release and the October arrival of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
