Cookie Run Kingdom Postpones Version 5.6 Update: Pros, Cons, and Surprises

Cookie Run: Kingdom's Version 5.6 Update: A Controversial "Dark Resolution"

Cookie Run: Kingdom recently announced its Version 5.6 update, dubbed "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," promising a wave of new content including cookies, episodes, events, toppings, and treasures. However, the update's reception has been mixed, to say the least.

The Positives

The update introduces Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie, an Ancient+ rarity Charge-type cookie with a powerful Awakened King skill. A special Nether-Gacha offers increased odds of acquiring him. Additionally, the new Epic Support-type cookie, Peach Blossom Cookie, provides healing and buffs. A new World Exploration episode continues Dark Cacao Cookie's story, featuring Yin and Yang battle stages.

The Negatives and Backlash

The introduction of the Ancient+ rarity, a new tier above the existing ten rarities, caused significant controversy. This new highest rarity, allowing 6-star max promotion, is seen as a problematic addition by many players, particularly those who feel it unfairly overshadows existing characters. The community reacted strongly, with Korean players and whale guilds even threatening a boycott.

In response to the player outcry, the developers have postponed the update, originally scheduled for June 20th, to reconsider the Ancient+ rarity implementation.

The Future of Version 5.6

The fate of the Ancient+ rarity remains uncertain. The developers' decision to postpone the update demonstrates a willingness to listen to player feedback. Whether this leads to changes or a complete removal of the Ancient+ system remains to be seen. Further updates are expected soon. Stay tuned for more information.
