Crunchyroll Releases Kardboard Kings, a Card Shop and Collector Simulator

Crunchyroll's Android app now features Kardboard Kings, a captivating single-player card shop management game. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this title from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has made its way to consoles and now mobile devices via Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll members can download it for free.

The Kardboard Kings Experience:

Players step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, inheriting his father's card shop. His father, a renowned card collector and Warlock champion, leaves Harry to navigate the exciting world of buying, selling, and trading cards. Harry's business partner? Giuseppe, a quick-witted cockatoo with an uncanny ability to spot great deals.

Located by the seaside, the shop presents Harry with the challenge of satisfying diverse customers. However, a bit of playful trickery can also boost profits. The game boasts charming characters, witty dialogue, and references to other card games and anime. Over 100 uniquely designed cards, complete with quirky illustrations and shiny variants, add to the appeal.

Gameplay Mechanics:

The core gameplay revolves around buying low and selling high. However, as the game progresses, card conditions and set rarities introduce strategic depth. Factors like foil finishes and card popularity significantly impact value.

Kardboard Kings also includes a roguelite deck-building mode on Card Game Island, where players can compete against skilled duelists. Additional gameplay options include hosting tournaments, booster pack parties, and clearance sales.
