Dead Cells final two updates are now live on iOS and Android, with fresh content to wrap it up

by Charlotte Mar 15,2025

Dead Cells' final updates, "Clean Cut" and "The End is Near," have arrived, bringing a massive amount of new content to the years-long updated roguelike. This final batch includes new weapons, enemies, and game modes, sending the game off with a bang.

The irony is that Dead Cells faced significant criticism only when free updates ceased. Since its 2018 release, it consistently received free content. "Clean Cut" and "The End is Near" deliver four new weapons, including the striking Sewing Scissors and Misericorde, plus new modes like Speedrun and Boss Rush DIY. Forty new heads, multiple enemy types, and an NPC allowing head customization are also included. While future development shifts to quality-of-life improvements, this substantial content update ensures plenty of replayability.

The complaints following the end of free updates seem unwarranted considering the half-decade of free content and paid expansions. Continued bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements will maintain the game's relevance for years.
