First Deadlock update of 2025 is surprisingly small
Valve's back from their New Year break, and developers are starting to roll out updates across their games. Following the announcement that Deadlock is shifting away from bi-weekly updates, we anticipated a substantial patch. However, Valve opted for a lighter touch to begin the year.
This initial 2025 patch focuses solely on Yamato, implementing a minor nerf. The damage scaling and attack speed bonus from Shadow Transformation's first level have been reduced. Further adjustments include nerfs to Frenzy, Berserker, and Restorative Shot, alongside a subtle rework of Alchemical Fire.

A larger patch is highly probable, though predicting its arrival is currently impossible.
It's noteworthy that Deadlock has experienced a player base reduction recently. While the reasons are speculative—the allure of Marvel Rivals is a possible factor—a consistent online player count of 7,000–19,000 remains respectable for a game still in deep beta. As a reminder, Valve hasn't yet revealed release dates or monetization plans.
