Deino: Evolution and Capture Guide for Pokémon SV

This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a potent Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon's power makes it a valuable addition to any trainer's team.

Obtaining Deino (Scarlet Exclusive):

Deino and its evolutions, Zweilous and Hydreigon, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet. To acquire them in Pokémon Violet, trading or transferring is necessary.

Deino and Zweilous Locations (Pokémon Scarlet):

Wild Deino can be found in:

  • Alfornada Cavern (requires Koraidon's high jump ability)
  • Dalizapa Passage (between Medali and Zapapico)
  • Glaseado Mountain
  • Area Zero
  • North Province (Area Two)

Deino also appears in 3-star Tera Raids (post-3 gym badges), potentially with its Hidden Ability. Zweilous, Deino's evolution, appears in 4-star Tera Raids. Hydreigon is found in 5/6-star Tera Raids.

Transferring Deino to Pokémon Violet:

Use Pokémon HOME to transfer Deino from Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Sword/Shield, or Pokémon GO to Pokémon Violet.

  1. Move Deino to your Basic Box in Pokémon HOME.
  2. Open Pokémon Violet in HOME and transfer Deino to a PC Box.

Evolving Deino:

  • Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50.
  • Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64.

Utilize auto-battling or Exp. Candies (L and XL recommended) to expedite the evolution process.

Hydreigon's Strengths and Weaknesses:

Hydreigon boasts a base stat total of 600, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid or Jolly Nature is recommended.

  • Strengths: High Special Attack and Attack, good Speed. Super effective against Dragon, Ghost, and Psychic types.
  • Weaknesses: 4x weakness to Fairy, also weak to Fighting, Bug, Dragon, and Ice types. Resists Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, and Dark. Immune to Ground and Psychic.

Hydreigon's Moveset:

Hydreigon's movepool allows for both physical and special attacking strategies. Consider moves like:

  • Flash Cannon (Steel-type TM, crucial for Fairy coverage)
  • Nasty Plot (Special Attack boost)
  • Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor)
  • Dark Pulse

Terastallizing can mitigate Hydreigon's Fairy weakness. A special attacking set is generally preferred due to the lack of strong physical Steel-type moves.
