Diablo 4 May Be Adding an Iconic World of Warcraft Weapon Soon

Diablo 4 Season 5 may bring a legendary guest star: Frostmourne, the Lich King's iconic blade from World of Warcraft. Data mined from the Season 5 Public Test Realm reveals models strikingly similar to this infamous weapon, hinting at its possible inclusion in the upcoming August update.

The current Season 5 PTR, running until July 2nd, offers a sneak peek at the new season's content, including fresh challenges, items, and quests, leading up to the October 8th launch of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred. But the discovery of Frostmourne models on the PTR has ignited excitement among fans. Wowhead's findings suggest two models, possibly indicating both one-handed and two-handed versions. While its exact function remains unknown – cosmetic item, legendary weapon, or something else entirely – the possibility of wielding Frostmourne in Diablo 4 is very real.

Frostmourne's Arrival in Diablo 4

Frostmourne holds legendary status in Warcraft lore, forever linked to Arthas Menethil's tragic fall. Though destroyed and reforged in Warcraft lore, players have never been able to wield the original Frostmourne directly in World of Warcraft. Diablo 4 could be the first game to offer this unique opportunity.

This isn't Frostmourne's first appearance in Diablo 4. Last October, the Invincible mount cosmetic, complete with Frostmourne and the Helm of Domination replicas, was added to the in-game shop. However, the new models suggest a far more significant inclusion: the actual ability to wield the legendary blade, not just display it.

Season 5's class weapon expansion further fuels speculation. With Druids gaining access to polearms, one-handed swords, and daggers; Necromancers to maces and axes; and Sorcerers to one-handed swords and maces, a one-handed Frostmourne would be usable by every class currently in Diablo 4.
