Should these rumors hold true, fans might soon witness the Star Wars saga delve into the Dark Side in an unprecedented manner. While details remain elusive, this project could take the form of a TV series, movie, or another innovative format. The creative helm is yet to be disclosed, and it might be some time before more information surfaces. Nonetheless, Gilroy's remarks indicate that Disney is open to exploring bold new directions within the Star Wars universe.
"The right creator, and the right moment, and the right vibe … you can do anything," Gilroy reflected on his experience with "Andor." "So, my hope is that the show connects, and then we can pass along the favor that we were given from 'Mandalorian,' and we can pass along a good healthy backwind to someone else who wants to do something else cool."
The prospect of a full-fledged Star Wars horror film has long been a dream for many fans, including Mark Hamill. Despite the franchise's extensive exploration of the Skywalker saga and its myriad characters, there's ample room to uncover the shadowy aspects of this expansive universe. While some spinoffs have ventured into darker themes, major releases generally cater to a broader, family-friendly audience.
"Andor" stands out as a more mature narrative within the Star Wars universe, earning high praise for its depth and storytelling. Its debut season in 2022 was a critical success, and it continues to be cherished by fans (we awarded it a 9/10 in our review).
