DOOM and DOOM 2 Classics Enhanced with New Features

Fans are revisiting the iconic DOOM games while awaiting DOOM: The Dark Ages. The development team has rolled out fresh updates to keep the classics vibrant.

The recent DOOM + DOOM 2 compilation received a significant upgrade. Developers have refined the games’ technical performance and introduced new features.

Multiplayer mod support is now available, with mods needing compatibility with Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Cooperative play now allows all players to collect items, and an observer mode has been added for those waiting to respawn. The multiplayer network code has been optimized, and the mod loader now supports more than the initial 100+ mods subscribed by players.

Looking ahead to DOOM: The Dark Ages, players can adjust demon aggression levels through customizable settings.

The goal is to make the shooter highly accessible. DOOM: The Dark Ages will offer extensive customization options, surpassing previous id Software titles. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the team’s focus on accessibility.

Players can tweak enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, damage received, game tempo, aggression levels, and parry timing. Stratton also confirmed that no prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages or DOOM: Eternal is needed to follow the storyline.
