EA Releases Source Code for Four Command & Conquer Games

Electronic Arts (EA) has taken a bold step by releasing the source code for four iconic titles in the Command & Conquer series. The games in question—Command & Conquer, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Command & Conquer: Renegade, and Command & Conquer: Generals—are now freely available to the public on GitHub under an open license. This move allows both fans and developers to delve into, modify, and enhance these cherished classics, opening up a world of possibilities for the community.
In addition to this significant release, EA has also introduced Steam Workshop support for newer Command & Conquer games that utilize the SAGE engine, including Kane's Wrath and Red Alert 3. This integration facilitates the creation and sharing of custom content, making it easier for players to contribute to and enjoy a dynamic, community-driven experience.
Although EA may not be actively developing new titles within the Command & Conquer franchise at the moment, the series continues to enjoy a dedicated following among long-time fans. By making the source code accessible and enhancing modding capabilities, EA is empowering enthusiasts to inject new life into the series. This initiative not only honors the legacy of Command & Conquer but also has the potential to draw in a new audience eager to explore or contribute to its storied history.
