Elden Ring's Nightreign: No More Poisonous Swamps

Elden Ring Nightreign: A Poisonous Swamp-Free Adventure?

From Software's upcoming cooperative title, Elden Ring Nightreign, will notably omit the poisonous swamps characteristic of many of their games. This revelation comes directly from the project's product manager, Yasuhiro Kitao, in recent press interviews.

While a swamp-like area was featured in the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer, Kitao clarifies it's a distinct location. The absence of the traditional poisonous swamps is attributed to the lack of involvement from Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's president and a known enthusiast of swamp environments in games like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. Miyazaki's absence from Nightreign's development explains this omission.

However, there's a chance Elden Ring Nightreign might still see the addition of a two-player mode. Currently, only solo and three-player modes have been confirmed, with content balancing cited as the reason for initially excluding a two-player option. From Software is currently evaluating the possibility of incorporating a two-player mode, but no final decision has been announced.

Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, across PC and current and next-gen consoles.
