Brad Pitt's Highest-Grossing Film Surpasses World War Z

by Joseph Jan 07,2026

The film F1 is a global box office sensation, and it marks a key career milestone for its lead actor, Brad Pitt. The racing drama continues to dominate theaters worldwide, having now crossed $540 million to become Pitt's highest-grossing film ever.

That title was previously held by his 2013 movie, World War Z, which earned a strong $540 million globally. However, in the six weeks since its theatrical debut, F1 has raced ahead with a massive $545 million total, pushing the zombie thriller into second place.

F1 is also Apple's most successful theatrical release to date. For comparison, Ridley Scott's Napoleon ultimately grossed $218 million worldwide, while Martin Scorsese's acclaimed thriller-drama, Killers of the Flower Moon, finished with $157 million globally. This makes the racing film Apple's biggest cinematic hit—a fitting achievement, as it's also Pitt's most commercially successful project.

That said, it's somewhat surprising that F1 and World War Z are Pitt's top financial performers, given his long-standing status as a household name. It's remarkable to consider that none of his films have ever reached the $1 billion mark, though he's also never starred in a superhero movie—another interesting point. The actor has been part of numerous successful projects, which puts this achievement into perspective.

F1 is still playing in select theaters but will eventually be available on Apple TV+. If we had to guess, it might speed its way onto the streaming platform by year's end. After all, who wouldn't want to watch fast cars over the holidays?
