Final Fantasy 16 Mods Requested to Avoid Being \"Offensive or Inappropriate\" By Director Yoshi-P
Final Fantasy XVI director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) has politely requested fans avoid creating or installing "offensive or inappropriate" modifications for the PC release.
Final Fantasy XVI PC Launch: September 17th
Yoshi-P's Plea for Respectful Modding
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Yoshi-P addressed the modding community, urging players to refrain from developing or using mods deemed offensive or inappropriate. While PC Gamer inquired about potentially humorous mods, Yoshi-P prioritized setting clear boundaries regarding unacceptable content.
He stated, "If we said 'It'd be great if someone made xyz,' it might come across as a request, so I'll avoid mentioning any specifics here! The only thing I will say is that we definitely don't want to say anything offensive or inappropriate, so please don't make or install anything like that."
Yoshi-P's experience with previous Final Fantasy titles likely exposed him to a range of mods, some of which were inappropriate or offensive. Online modding communities, such as Nexusmods and Steam, host a wide variety of mods—from graphical enhancements to cosmetic crossovers (like the Half-Life costume mod for FFXV). However, the existence of NSFW mods and other potentially harmful content necessitates this request for respectful modding practices. While Yoshi-P didn't specify examples, mods featuring explicit content, such as those replacing character models with nude meshes, clearly fall under the "offensive or inappropriate" category.
Final Fantasy XVI's PC release boasts features like a 240fps frame rate cap and various upscaling technologies. Yoshi-P's request simply aims to maintain a respectful and positive environment for all players.
