Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 development well underway - game director

Game director Hamaguchi recently provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project, he confirmed.

Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, noting its numerous awards and global player engagement. This success fuels the team's ambition to broaden the FFVII fanbase with unique challenges in the upcoming third installment.

Interestingly, Hamaguchi also mentioned Grand Theft Auto VI as a game that caught his attention this year. He expressed his admiration for the Rockstar Games team, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following GTA V's phenomenal success.

Specific details regarding the third game remain undisclosed, though Hamaguchi offered reassurance that development is progressing smoothly. Given the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, this is a significant undertaking. However, he promised players a truly unique experience.

While the May 2024 launch of Final Fantasy XVI fell short of initial sales projections, Square Enix has refrained from disclosing exact figures. Similarly, sales of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also underperformed expectations. Despite this, Square Enix maintains that neither title is a complete failure, expressing confidence that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its targets within the allotted 18-month timeframe.
