New First-Party PlayStation Game Will Reportedly Be Inspired by Smash Bros

A PlayStation studio, recently formed from former Bungie employees, is developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, this project, reportedly in development since at least 2020, has undergone a significant shift.
The game, described as having a "cozy, vibrant, and lo-fi" aesthetic, will deviate from Bungie's previous titles by targeting a younger audience. A key differentiator is its unique damage system. Instead of traditional health bars, Gummy Bears employs a percentage-based damage mechanic similar to Super Smash Bros., where high enough damage results in characters being knocked off the map. The game will feature standard MOBA character classes (Attack, Defense, Support) and multiple game modes.
While the exact release date remains unknown and the game is still years from launch, the transition to a new PlayStation studio suggests a continued commitment to this intriguing project. The approximately 40-person team inherited the project following Bungie's workforce reduction and subsequent integration with Sony Interactive Entertainment.
