Foamstars, Square Enix's Answer to Splatoon 3, Becomes Free-to-Play in Less Than a Year Since Launch

Square Enix Announces Foamstars Free-to-Play Launch: October 4th

No More PlayStation Plus Subscription Required

Square Enix revealed today, via a support page update, that its 4v4 premium shooter, Foamstars, will become free-to-play. This change also removes the requirement for a PlayStation Plus subscription to access the game. Currently priced at $29.99 for PS4 and PS5, Foamstars will be available for free download and play starting October 4th, 2024, at 1:00 a.m. UTC.

Players who purchased Foamstars before the price change will receive a special "Legacy Gift," an exclusive in-game bundle including:

• 12 color-variant Bubble Beastie skins
• 1 exclusive Slide Board design
• 1 title: "Legacy"
