F-Zero Climax Now Racing Onto Switch Online + Expansion Pack

F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend: Coming to Switch Online

Launching October 11, 2024

Nintendo's iconic futuristic racing franchise, F-Zero, is expanding its reach. The previously Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax and the globally released F-Zero: GP Legend will be available on the Switch Online + Expansion Pack starting October 11th.

The F-Zero series, celebrating over 30 years since its 1990 debut, has consistently pushed the boundaries of console technology. Its influence on the racing genre is undeniable, inspiring titles like SEGA's Daytona USA. Known for its breakneck speed and intense competition, F-Zero has cemented its place as a classic among retro racing games.

Similar to the popular Mario Kart series, F-Zero features intense races filled with track obstacles and rival racers battling for the finish line in their unique "F-Zero machines." The series' iconic protagonist, Captain Falcon, even made a name for himself as a fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series.

F-Zero: GP Legend, initially released in Japan in 2003 and later worldwide in 2004, will be joined by F-Zero Climax, a title previously exclusive to Japan since its 2004 launch. This marks the first time F-Zero Climax will be available outside of Japan, ending a 19-year regional exclusivity. The game's designer, Takaya Imamura, has previously cited the success of Mario Kart as a factor in the F-Zero series' prolonged hiatus.

This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack brings a wealth of racing action. Subscribers can look forward to Grand Prix races, story modes, and various time trials in both F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend.
