by Lucas Apr 17,2025

The gaming community received disheartening news as Hollow Knight: Silksong will not be showcased at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024. Geoff Keighley, the producer and host of the event, confirmed this on Twitter (X), putting an end to the speculation and anticipation that had built up among fans.

Silksong Skips Gamescom ONL, Confirms Geoff Keighley

The announcement came as a blow to the Hollow Knight community, who had been eagerly awaiting any updates on Silksong, the much-anticipated sequel to the beloved indie game. The initial excitement stemmed from Keighley's tease of additional unannounced titles with a "+ More" in the event's lineup, sparking hopes that Silksong might finally break its silence after over a year.

However, Keighley quickly quashed these hopes by tweeting, "Just to get this out of the way, no Silksong on Tuesday at ONL." He did, however, reassure fans that Team Cherry, the developers behind Silksong, are diligently working on the project.

While the absence of Silksong at Gamescom 2024's Opening Night Live left many fans disappointed, Keighley's announcement wasn't without its silver linings. The event will still feature an exciting lineup of games, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Monster Hunter Wilds, Civilization 7, MARVEL Rivals, and more.
