Gears YouTube Channel Notably Revised

The Coalition, the developer behind the Gears of War franchise, has seemingly purged the official Gears of War YouTube and Twitch channels. This unexpected move leaves only a handful of videos remaining, including the recently released Gears of War: E-Day reveal trailer and a fan-made compilation. The channel, now featuring the E-Day banner, previously housed a vast archive of trailers, developer streams, and esports content.

This drastic action comes shortly after the announcement of Gears of War: E-Day, a prequel set fourteen years before the original game. The Coalition is positioning E-Day as a near-reboot, focusing on the origins of Marcus and Dom during Emergence Day, while maintaining continuity with the established storyline and characters. While a release date hasn't been confirmed, rumors suggest a 2025 launch, fueled further by a recent in-game message within Gears 5 promoting E-Day.

The removal of the extensive video library has disappointed fans, many of whom valued access to classic trailers and behind-the-scenes content. The iconic original Gears of War trailer, frequently praised as one of gaming's finest, is a notable loss. Interestingly, the E-Day trailer subtly referenced the original's use of Gary Jules' "Mad World" during Dom's appearance.

The prevailing speculation is that The Coalition aims for a clean slate, symbolically wiping away the past to emphasize the fresh start offered by E-Day. However, it remains possible the videos are simply archived and may reappear later. For now, fans seeking to revisit older content will have to rely on third-party uploads, though finding developer streams and esports archives may prove challenging.
