Nintendo Switch 2: Genki's CES Mockup Reveals Key Features

Genki, a prominent handheld gaming accessory developer, unveiled a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing several key features. This model, reportedly based on a black market acquisition, showcased accurate dimensions and design elements.

Key features observed include a larger form factor approaching the size of the Valve Steam Deck, magnetically attached Joy-Cons with integrated optical sensors, a second USB-C port, and an enigmatic "C" button.

Genki CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed the magnetic Joy-Con design in an interview with The Verge. He explained that while the SL and SR buttons utilize magnets for attachment, a release mechanism ensures secure detachment. The optical sensors on the Joy-Cons suggest potential functionality as mouse-like input devices via a yet-to-be-released accessory.

Despite its increased size, the Switch 2's slim profile allows it to physically fit within the existing Switch dock. However, structural differences render it incompatible for use. The purpose of the additional USB-C port and the "C" button remain unknown.
