A Taste of Teyvat

Genshin Impact is whipping up something exciting! Cryptic tweets on Twitter (X) are hinting at a collaboration between the popular mobile gacha game and McDonald's.

The fun started when McDonald's posted a playful tweet asking fans to "text 'traveler' to +1 (707) 932-4826 to guess the next quest." Genshin Impact responded with a cheeky "Ugh?" and a 2021 meme of Paimon sporting a McDonald's hat.

HoYoverse quickly joined the tease with a cryptic post of their own on the Genshin Impact Twitter (X) account. It featured a random assortment of in-game items with the caption "A mysterious note of unknown origin. All that’s on it are some strange symbols." Fans were initially baffled but soon deciphered that the initials of these items spelled out "McDonald’s."

Following this, McDonald's updated their social media profiles with Genshin-themed elements. Their Twitter bio hinted at a "new quest" set to unlock on September 17th.

This collaboration has been simmering for a while. Over a year ago, when Genshin's version 4.0 was released, McDonald's playfully tweeted, "wondering if Fontaine has a drive-thru #Genshin," alongside an image of them downloading the new patch.

Genshin Impact x McDonalds

Genshin Impact has a stellar history of collaborations, ranging from gaming giants like Horizon: Zero Dawn to real-world brands such as Cadillac. Even fast-food chains like KFC in China have joined the fun, offering exclusive in-game items, limited-edition toys, and a unique Wind Glider.

While the specifics of Genshin’s collaboration with McDonald’s are still under wraps, the potential for a global reach is exciting. Unlike the previous partnership with KFC, which was limited to China, the change in McDonald’s US Facebook profile suggests a broader audience.

Could we soon be savoring a side of Teyvat fried eggs with our Big Mac? Stay tuned for more details on September 17th.
