Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
Bethesda's latest update for Fallout 76 allows players to explore the game's world as a Ghoul. Announced on March 18 via their official website, Season 20 brings a host of ghoul-related enhancements, new mechanics, and cosmetic options to revamp your C.A.M.P.
To embrace your inner Ghoul, players must complete the "Leap of Faith" questline, which introduces a new area in the Savage Divide. Here, you'll encounter new characters who aid in your transformation. As a Ghoul, you'll unlock unique abilities such as Glow and Feral, along with access to 30 new Ghoul-exclusive Perks, known as "Gherks."
The Feral ability replaces traditional hunger and thirst mechanics with a Feral meter. Depending on its level, it offers various boosts, but dropping to 0% results in drastic changes: "+150% Melee Damage, -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy."
The Glow ability allows players to consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and even making them glow. This ability enhances maximum health, heals damage, and supports the new Gherks.
Ghouls have 28 perks to choose from, including two new legendary perks. Note that perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance are unavailable to Ghouls as they don't benefit from these.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
Navigating the wasteland as a Ghoul becomes easier with the new abilities and Gherks. However, certain factions like the Brotherhood of Steel may become hostile, restricting access to some quests. Fortunately, a new NPC, Jaye, offers disguises that allow Ghouls to interact with otherwise inaccessible content.
If the Ghoul life isn't for you, you can revert to human form via the Character Screen, though this is a one-way decision. To transform back into a Ghoul, you'll need to purchase the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
New and returning players can now accelerate their journey with the Level 50 Character Boost, available for 1500 Atoms. This boost helps you dive straight into multiplayer features like Daily Ops, Public Events, and selected story content.
The Season 20 update also includes various bug fixes, balance tweaks, accessibility improvements, combat adjustments, and weapon damage changes. Bethesda has also announced the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update, set for April 29, as part of their season calendar.
Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has overcome its initial challenges and now boasts a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of reviews being positive. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
