GOG Revives Dino Crisis 1 & 2 for PC

by Scarlett Apr 21,2025

Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, the beloved cult classics from the PlayStation era, have been resurrected for PC gamers through GOG, a platform owned by CD Projekt. These survival horror gems are now available DRM-free, preserving their original content under GOG's Preservation Program. Dino Crisis first hit the original PlayStation in 1999, followed by Dino Crisis 2 in 2000. While Dino Crisis 3 made its debut as an Xbox exclusive in 2003, fans have been left without a new installment since.

Despite fervent calls for a new game or an HD remake, Capcom has shown little interest in reviving the series. The 2022 announcement of Exoprimal, a multiplayer action game with dinosaurs, was perceived as the final blow to hopes for a Dino Crisis comeback. Moreover, last August, Dino Crisis creator Shinji Mikami remarked that the success of Capcom's Monster Hunter series leaves little room for a Dino Crisis reboot or remake.

Previously, getting the PC ports of the first two Dino Crisis games running on modern systems was a challenge, making GOG's efforts highly appreciated. GOG highlighted the significance of this release, stating, "Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina’s iconic line, 'You’re extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself. The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today’s systems, featuring all the original content you loved with numerous improvements."
