"Lanterns" is set to be a groundbreaking detective drama, drawing inspiration from acclaimed series such as "True Detective" and "Slow Horses." The narrative follows Chandler's Hal Jordan and Pierre's John Stewart as they team up to unravel a murder mystery that spirals into an even more sinister enigma. This series is a confirmed part of James Gunn's expansive DC universe, which also encompasses projects like "Creature Commando" and the upcoming films "Superman" and "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow."

The show's creation is credited to Damon Lindelof, known for his work on "Lost," alongside Chris Mundy and Tom King. Gunn has described the series as having a "very grounded, very believable, very real" tone, promising a narrative that defies traditional expectations of a Green Lanterns television series.

Kyle Chandler, celebrated for his role in "Friday Night Lights," portrays an older version of Hal Jordan, while Aaron Pierre, who rose to prominence with his performance in "Rebel Ridge," takes on the role of John Stewart. "Lanterns" is slated for a 2026 premiere, aligning with the release of the "Supergirl" movie, promising an exciting year for DC fans.
