The Helldivers 2 game, developed by Arrowhead, draws inspiration from Starship Troopers, depicting futuristic soldiers defending a Super Earth regime against alien threats while upholding a "Managed Democracy." The film adaptation's faithfulness to the source material is a key question for fans. Arrowhead's CCO, Johan Pilestedt, while initially evasive, confirmed some level of developer involvement, though not complete creative control. He emphasized Arrowhead's lack of Hollywood experience as justification for this approach.

The choice of Helldivers 2 for adaptation, given the pre-existing Starship Troopers franchise, is intriguing.
