Hopetown, a groundbreaking nonlinear RPG crafted by Longdue Games, introduces a novel approach to narrative-driven gameplay. Founded by former employees of acclaimed studios such as ZA/UM, Rockstar Games, and Bungie, Longdue Games has unveiled the first glimpse into the game's mechanics, positioning Hopetown as a spiritual successor to the beloved Disco Elysium. The game's storyline revolves around a journalist who wakes up in a mining town following a night of excessive drinking. As players grapple with a throbbing hangover, they must unravel the mystery of the previous night and navigate an escalating local conflict, deciding whether to soothe tensions or stoke the flames.

Screenshots showcase a dialogue-centric experience where players' choices profoundly influence the narrative trajectory. The game features multiple archetypes, each providing unique dialogue options and approaches to interactions. For instance, when engaging with an elderly woman feeding pigeons, players can choose various tones, which in turn affect the conversation's outcome.

Longdue Games is gearing up to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund Hopetown, with a dedicated page already live on the platform. Although no official release date has been announced, excitement is mounting among enthusiasts of narrative-focused RPGs.

Hopetown isn't the only game drawing inspiration from Disco Elysium. Two other studios, Dark Math Games and Summer Eternal, are also developing their own psychological RPGs, adding to the growing genre.
