Navigating the vast, randomly-generated Synthwave landscapes of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be challenging, but fear not—your trusty Hoverboard is here to make traversing this expansive world a breeze. Right from the start, you have access to this essential tool, which not only serves as a sprint mechanic but also enhances your overall mobility across the game's environment.

How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker

To harness the speed of the Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker, all you need to do is hold down the Dodge input. Your character, known as the Breaker, will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you keep the Dodge button pressed.

Steering on the Hoverboard is straightforward. By tilting the left analog stick, you can lean and turn in your desired direction. The speed at which you're moving affects your turning radius; at top speed, turns are slower, while at lower speeds, you have more control over your direction.

To dismount the Hoverboard, simply release the Dodge input. Be mindful of your Energy levels, as the Hoverboard will automatically disappear if your Energy is depleted while riding. You can monitor your Energy next to your Breaker's companion. If your Energy runs low, take a moment to hop off and let it recharge to avoid an untimely dismount.

Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses

While the Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker doesn't allow for tricks or combat, it offers several unique features that enhance gameplay. One of its standout abilities is its capacity to float on water, enabling you to effortlessly glide across rivers and inlets scattered throughout the Overgrowth. Remember, you must be on the Hoverboard before entering the water to ride across its surface. No matter your entry speed or jump height, the Hoverboard will swiftly return to the surface, allowing you to continue your journey uninterrupted.

Additionally, you can hold down the Jump input while on the Hoverboard to prepare for a leap. Although double-jumping isn't possible, the increased speed from the Hoverboard can help you cover greater distances and navigate challenging gaps. While ducking down won't boost your speed or jump height, it can aid in timing your jumps more precisely, adding a layer of strategy to your movements.
