IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles to Benefit Wildfire Relief Charity

by Violet Mar 05,2025

Godzilla's rampage shifts from Tokyo to the United States in IDW Publishing and Toho's new series, Godzilla vs. America. Following the Chicago installment, the series continues with Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a four-story anthology showcasing Godzilla's attack on the City of Angels.

The creative team for Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, releasing in April 2025, includes notable artists such as Gabriel Hardman, J. Gonzo, Dave Baker, and Nicole Goux. Their stories depict Godzilla battling unique Los Angeles-themed threats.

Acknowledging the sensitive timing given recent devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area, IDW has pledged to donate all proceeds from the comic's sales to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc), supporting bookstores and comic shops impacted by the fires. The publisher released a statement emphasizing their commitment to community support and clarifying that the comic's theme, while coincidental with current events, explores broader themes of resilience in the face of disaster.

In a statement to IGN, associate editor Nicolas Niño highlighted the collaboration with Los Angeles-based artists and the comic's portrayal of Angelenos uniting against a monumental challenge. He emphasized the positive intent behind the project, using the proceeds to aid the community's recovery efforts.

Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1 will be available April 30, 2025, with final orders due March 24, 2025. For further information on upcoming comic book releases, explore previews of Marvel and DC's 2025 lineups.
