Japanese RPG 'Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii' Impresses with 79/100 Debut

Ahead of its official launch, gaming journalists have released their reviews of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The PS5 version currently holds a Metacritic score of 79/100.
Reviewers widely agree that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has delivered a wildly entertaining, if somewhat unconventional, entry in the series. The return to a fast-paced, action-focused combat system, reminiscent of earlier titles, has been lauded, particularly the addition of engaging naval battles which provide significant gameplay variety.
While protagonist Goro Majima has received positive feedback, the narrative has drawn mixed reactions, with some critics finding it less compelling than mainline entries. Similarly, the game's environments have been criticized for a degree of repetitiveness.
Despite these shortcomings, the consensus is that Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will likely satisfy both veteran fans and newcomers alike.
